1. Emily-anne Says: I need to get a new clutch for my 97 Cavalier, any suggestions on what are some good brands and also fairly inexpensive?
2. JsF73 Says: Unfortunately good and cheep don't go hand and hand. Genuine GM parts would be the best for your Cav, but the price will be very high. Any aftermarket parts supplier (i.e. Autozone, Napa, Carquest) can give you better prices, but the quality will suffer to some degree depending on manufacturer. I would say if you plan on driving the car for a long time, than spend more now for a good clutch. If you plan on selling the car in the near future, than get the cheaper clutch. Just remember that the transmission has to be removed to replace the clutch ($$$) and if the clutch fails after the warranty you will have to pay for the trans R&R again. Be sure to get the clutch plate, pressure plate, and throw out bearing as an assembly.
3. Sunny Says: Go to Napa or Carquest.
They usually have 're-manufactured' clutch kits, for significantly less than brand new ones.. and they'll last you fine. If your having it installed by someone else, talk to them at the shop and they may be able to get it for you cheaper, as they get a discount on it.
4. molitor Says: Don't cheap out on a clutch. Not a place to seek a false economy. When the cheap-O clutch fails where are you going to get the money to have it all done again? Yea I thought so. Thumbs up for suggesting NAPA. Go there.
