absolute_angel54 Says: The car had to be towed back to the shop because the brakes were smoking really bad and smelled like burnt rubber and the rim was hot too. The car came out from the shop with new brakes, new rotors and a new caliper. Still same thing, so back to the shop again. Now it has new rotors, new brake pads, new calipers and a new hose. I drove it for about 12 miles and didnt really smell the burnt rubber anymore but i could still feel heat off the brakes. The smoking brake was only on the driver's side front. The other brakes are fine. I have a 2000 toyota rav 4. Since my car was in the same shop 4 times I'm afraid to drive the car anywhere because of the fear of smoke. Any suggestions?

Preacher Glenn Says: If you no longer smell something hot I would assume they finally fixed the problem by replacing the brake hose. It is normal for the brakes to get hot with use. If you thing they feel too hot I would take it back to where you had it repaired and ask them to check the brake rotor temperature with an infrared thermometer. It shouldn't be more than about 250 degrees.

the_boy_toy Says: Have you checked the brake fluid level in the master cylinder? Maybe the bleed valve is not closed all of the way or the master cylinder is faulty. Could also be the brakes are not returning back to the open position.

Mr. KnowItAll Says: Faulty master cylinder.

Big John Says: don't take it back to that shop, it is clear they don't know what they are doing.
