Is the toyota 1982 bj42 automatic or stick shift?

2. Matthew Orton Says: I have a 1982 BJ42 from New Zealand. The 1983-4 BJ42LX came standard with a 5 speed manual and the years prior came with a 4 speed manual. Miles per gallon depends upon driving style, but they average from 22-30 MPG. I put a 5 speed into mine and have gotten 28-30 on the highway. The 1982 BJ42 comes with a 3B diesel engine and I have seem many with 500,000+ miles before a rebuild was necessary. The BJ42 is extremely reliable; its a Land Cruiser after all.
