Does this mean blown head gasket?
(2010-10-19 14:10:09) 1. Says: This is for a 92 camaro. So first my heater core leaked coolant. replaced it. then the radiator burst open. replaced it. that was about two weeks apart. Now, two weeks after replacing the radiator, more coolant has burst out from somewhere in the rear of the engine. i found one hose that had burst, but havent found any more yet. does this mean a head gasket is blown? and if yes, then should i rebuild the engine or buy a new one? I want to fix up the car eventually and make it nice and will put a bigger engine in it one day, but im in college right now and cannot affford a new engine now unless it is absolutely neccessary.2. Says: a hose bursting has nothing to do with a head gasket, we are a lot unclear here, the only hose in the rear, should be a heater hose, (which you should have replaced with all new hoses?) anytime you change a heater core, or a radiator, or the water pump, it is a really good idea to replace all the hoses. So now you should know there are no old hoses. These hoses are good for like 7 years, after that start looking for new ones. so back to your question, is the hose that blew in the rear of the engine, something you think is ralated to a head gasket? the answer to that if not a chance, a head gasket is a seperate issue from any hose.3. Says: I suspect you have rear heat to your suburban or a climate control set up of some kind 4. Says: It may just mean the car is 18 years old and still has some original, or old parts that are wearing out.How does the oil look? How does the coolant look? Do you have any excessive steam coming from the exaust? These questions could possibly point to a head gasket problem.5. Says: You need to have your cooling system pressure checked to see where it's leaking from. If the coolant is leaking from the back of your engine there's only 2 possibilities leaking heater hose or a freeze plug. Good luck and hope this helps.6. Says: Check the oil, if it milky and or higher than normal then yes you blew the head gasket. Are you sure the heat core lines did not break? A head gasket will not drop all the coolant out of the engine.7. Says: don,t sound like a head gasket to me if you have no anti-freeze in the oil or it,s not smoking white smoke. it could be a blown freeze plug. Tag: Does this mean blown head gasket?
