What does it mean to have water in the cylinders?

Brian Z Says: Looking at buying a car on Craigslist, the description says it's a 98 Buick Le Sabre with water in the cylinders. Is this a pain in the *** to fix? How much for a mechanic to do it, how much to do it yourself?

stevefwb Says: it would be easy to fix if you have 10,000 dollars of tools and 10 years experience rebuilding engines from scratch. and maybe 1000 dollars of parts.

Boe Says: Its probably the deal of man its cheap and with that issue, sounds like the engine needs to be rebuild. Blown head gasket or cracked block.
