Bagged97 Says: 5 yrs ago my a/c clutch went out on my truck. So i bought a bypass pulley for the truck,Now i am looking to buy another compressor for it,My question is can i just put the compressor on and recharge it? They told me i'ts cheaper to buy a compressor than to go to the trouble of replacing clutch,so i got rid of the old compressor, Everything looks to be fine under the hood, back when i had a/c i had no problems till the clutch froze up.Again can i just put a new compressor on it and recharge from there???

matt Says: if you can fill it yourself buy extra fluid and starting pumping it in. then open up another point to allow the fluid to escape. You would be essentially flushing the system. Not environmentally friendly but it works just the same as someone vacuuming it out.

mark h Says: Once a line has been loosened, you need to have a vacuum pump hooked up to get rid of the moisture in the system. Talk to your friends and you might find someone that works on home a/c's. If they have the right fittings, they can do it for you. Going this route it only cast you a 12 pack and about an hour of your time.

mistermambonumber5 Says: No, you will have to take it somewhere where they can vacuum the system and get the air out before filling and balancing. Unless you have the equipment and the training, do the change out, but leave the filling to a pro.
