I bought a new tire a week ago and it is going flat. What would cause this?

1.
Thomas Says: I noticed on the tire that there was a small piece of rubber sticking out of where the tire meets the rim. Did they sell me a defective tire?
2.
straight shooter Says: Most likely the wheel has rust/corrosion built up on the rim surface where the rubber of the tire contacts it and is leaking. It's called a rim leak. Take it back to the place that installed it and have the tech grind off corrosion and reseal it.
3.
BriaR Says: Looks like they weren't paying attention when they fitted the tyre and a piece of debris got caught in the rim. Take it back and have them refit it.
4.
matt Says: that could be it definetly or I would check the valve stems to make sure its in all the way. The tool to tighten them only costs a few dollars but I would hope the shop that sold you them would do it for free.
5.
dennis m Says: it could be a valve stem problem or they might of broke the bead when they mounted your tire go back to the shop and have them check
6.
=) Says: no they probably just installed it wrong and tore the bead which ruined the tire bring it back and point it out to them
7.
Steven P Says: scale builds up around the lip and must be cleaned off to get a good seal, the tire place will fix this for free.
8.
shiva Says: sue the company!
