My 2008 ford escape is CLUNKING?
(2010-12-03 15:05:10) 1. Says: I was driving my 2008 escape and it started to clunk close to the firing wall I stopped it and got it towed to the shop ( they have yet to look at it ) I need to know if you think this is a reason for rebuild/replace or if some how it can be repaired I am scared I am a single mom and dont want to hear I have yet a nother HUGE bill. the oil was low so we added some and then we were heading down the highway and it started to clunkl I opened the hood and there was a thing that looked like it had tinfoil incasing it and the thing in the middle was glowing red but the engine temp gage was normal?!?!?! it does it as soon as you turn the engine over and it almost sound like some one hitting back and forth with a hammer in there I did check the coolant and it seemed normal PLEASE HELP!! email me at lisalavay@live.com2. Says: Which shop?If not Ford, call em now and tell em dont touch it. Or better yet, go there asap. First ask em what they did on it so far.
If Ford, prob no charge: warranty.
Btw, upgrad warranty to Ford Factory Bumper to Bumper, not powertrain/drive train.
Only have Ford Dealer do all maint and most repairs.
Smart not driving it.
PS: it's called the fire wall, not firing. It divides the engine compartment from the cabin or passenger area.3. Says: No way of telling.
Clunking could come from a million different things.
But whatever it is, it's probably something you did or didn't do to it.
