Question about tires?
(2010-12-04 03:10:21) 1. Says: Is it possible for the check tires light to come on if the spare is low...when the spare is in the back of the SUV? Talking about 08 Rogue.Somebody said it was possible and am looking for extra feedback. Tires on driver's side were at 33 and on passenger side was 36. The spare was at 26. But the spare is a lot smaller than the regular tires. Handy man guy at work took a look at the tires and said since the spare was so low, that's what prompted the light to come on. Scratching my head over it.
(Going in for routine maintanence later anyway. Just really curious.)2. Says: If the spare tire has a pressure sensor in it (and many full-size spares on SUV's do) then absolutely yes it is possible for low air pressure in the spare tire to trigger the warning light. I see it all the time. If your spare is not a ful-size tire then no, it has no sensor and can not possibly trigger the warning light.3. Says: NO....spare tires do NOT come with a tpms sensor in them......
** routine maintenance will NOT fix this either......
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is designed to make idiots check their tires as often as they should........
bottom line is u may need to let air out of each tire and then re-inflate them to proper pressure......if that does not work one or more of the sensors may need to be replaced.....or even the system may need to be reset....
tire shop will have a reset tool....tho some vehicles have a system reset built into them check ur owners manual.....
**tpms sensors usually have a battery life of about 5 years.......also cheapest place that i have found to get sensors replaced and or reset is walmart.......unless like me u work in ur own tire shop....or have access to one...4.
