Can somebody help me out with exhaust....?
(2010-12-15 15:10:39) 1. Says: What is the point of putting on a racing exhaust system other than it makes your car really loud?2. Says: On a race prepped engine it is beneficial. On a stock engine it is just noisy.3. Says: It reduces back pressure which increases the flow to make more power. An engine is basically an air pump the more air you can move in the more fuel you can burn, the more exhaust you move out the more air you can move in. On a stock engine it make a very little increase in power because you are not moving enough air in ti make use of it capability to move more air out, but when you start to upgrade the engines capacity to move more air by putting better heads, intake, cam, forced air induction, ect. the stock exhaust becomes a major restriction and you will see more gains in power and torque by putting an after market system on.4. Says: First explain what you think a racing exhaust system is. A loud muffler isn't a racing exhaust system. Headers (equal tube step or Try Y) dual converters, X pipe and high flow mufflers would qualify as a high performance street exhaust system. It's worth added horsepower and fuel economy. It also helps get rid of combustion chamber heat.Off street racing engines use equal length step headers or Try Y design to scavenge exhaust pulses from exhaust valves that are just becoming open. Chambered mufflers and converters haven't been outlawed yet on off road motors. Tag: Can somebody help me out with exhaust....?
