Interested in getting a wrangler, somebody help out?
(2010-05-27 20:29:06) 1. Says: I'm considering a year 2000 jeep wrangler. I love the car, and love the fact that you can take the roof and doors off. But lets say, you're taking it on a long trip and it starts to rain. Provided that happens, can you drive it through the rain? I mean, can rain basically drench the interior ( it's an outdoor car, you'd figure it has a waterproof interior) or do you have to somehow close the roof right away.and as well, provided you take the doors off and you go somewhere and leave the car un-attended for a bit. Is it easily stolen with the doors off? provided they don't have the key.
All help would be great :)2. Says: does it have a hardtop or soft top? If it only has a hardtop, you can get a soft top for short money - I just sold one, complete, for $300. Then you just fold it down, and back up again if it rains. A little water won't hurt anything, but if it gets drenched enough that the wiring under the dash gets wet you may have trouble for a couple of days until it dries out - and don't expect the stereo to survive getting wet.
As far as taking the doors off - a dedicated thief won't be bothered by doors, and if you have the key then the truck is no easier to steal than any other vehicle.
Obviously, NEVER leave anything in it that you care about, because it won't be there when you get back.3. Says: go and get your wrangler. i keep the top and doors off almost year round. there are tops called bikini tops and the fanous ragtops you can buy. i have been caught in the before and the only problem i had was rain getting on the reverse side of the windshield.i got wet but that did not matter to me.
rain can soak the interior with little effect, just take the carpets out and let everything air dry.
as for thievery give up trying to keep anything of value in your jeep. if they want it bad enough they will take it or steal it for spite.and they DONT need the key to steal it.i imagine they can hot wire or push start it if they want it bad enough.
