ESP on or off? Which one of is is right?
(2010-12-19 03:05:07) 1. Says: My 2010 Dodge Journey has a Electronic Stability System (FWD). When my wife drives, she hits the button on the dash which turns on the ESP light in the instrument cluster. She thinks this turns it "on".I leave it alone (no light) and when I drive in certain weather, like snow, the light blinks when the wheels slip indicating that the system in engaging as necessary - or so I believe.
Who's correct?2. Says: Pressing the switch will turn ESP off. The reason the light is off every time you start the car is that it is always on as the default setting. The light comes on when the system is turned off. There is no way to set it to disable when the vehicle is started. If you're still unsure, check the owner's manual. It has all kinds of useful information, including safe driving tips for adverse conditions.

When the system is ON, the light will flash when you encounter some type of driving conditions where you lose tractions, and the computer system will adjust your car to behave properly.4. Says: Your wife manually activates the ESP. When you drive the car and lose traction the ESP activates automatically through the wheel speeds not matching. I guess it's a matter of preference. Lets say you're both not wrong.5.
