How much fuss and bother is it to install a remote starter?

1. Windi Lea Says: My boyfriend just bought a (new to him) truck, that just happens to have a remote starter. As I moved from Arizona to Minnesota to be with him, there is a certain irony in the Minnesota-born man getting that luxury and not me. So I'm wondering, since my birthday is next month, is it something that would be reasonable to ask for for a present? He is moderately skillful, mechanically speaking - more electronics knowledge, really. Also he has a cousin who is a mechanic who *might* be able to help. One hitch in the works is that he is a very large man, and my car is a very small car - a 96 Saturn SC-1, so if it would involve getting at anything from underneath the car, he would not be able to manage it.

EDITED TO ADD: I do confess to a little envy. Not enough to trade his gas bill for mine, though.

Ok, maybe a lot of envy ;-D
2. djaca70 Says: Not that difficult- be done in an hour by an audio shop. Do not let cousin Enos do the work. If he F's it up, then it will be more expensive.
3. mikieav Says: If it has a computer system Let a skilled mechanic do it . He might have to reset some codes.
