Which gas should I get for my car?
(2010-12-27 03:10:07) 1. Says: so I have the 2008 honda civic LX and I am pondering the queston on which gas I should purchased. The regular one is the most cheapest, what are the downside to it? I usuually purchased 89, but I am thinking about purchasing 87 since my budget is sorta tight at the moment, in terms of the difference, can someone tell me it? I travel alot, would you recommend purhasing 87 as my gas type from now on?2. Says: A lot of people "claim" that they can feel a difference in the responsiveness/acceleration of their vehicle when they put a lower grade of gas in it, many also say they notice sputtering/slight misfires. While for many cars this may be the case, I say for a Civic to stick with 87 or 89 grade fuel, preferably 87 since it is only a 4 cylinder engine. If it were a performance vehicle like the Civic Si, I would say stick with the higher grade fuel 89 or 93 grade for performance but you should be fine with the lowest grade. Make sure you get your fuel filter serviced regularly.3. Says: Unless your turboed or supercharged you dont need high octane high octain is only needed in high compression motors. its less prone to detonation. it can be compressed in a hot combustion chamber and ignite at exactly the right time. You can run 87 all the time with no issues stop waisting your money on the High octane stuff you dont need it.4. Says: using a higher grade than the car needs is a waste of moneyusing a lower grade than the car needs can damage the engine
use the grade that honda calls for5. Says: The owners manual will have that info.If not, call a Honda dealer and ask parts department. Tag: Which gas should I get for my car?
