My truck keeps cutting out but not really any loss of power; what's wrong?
(2011-01-05 03:10:10) 1. Says: Recently my truck began to cut out as I was just cruising along in my truck (96 gmc sierra). It wouldn't do it though when I laid the pedal down accelerating. A mechanic told me to do a full tune up and go from there. I changed ignition rotor, distributor cap, spark plugs and wires, and the two upstream o2 sensors that were bad. It was good for about a week and it's started again. What could be wrong if none of this?Additional: I don't have a catalytic converter either, but I haven't had one for over a year and hasn't bothered anything.2. Says: It could be water in your gas or just bad gas. If you have been buying cheap gas try getting a tank or two of higher quality gas, like Shell, which has additives to clean out your system. As far as the check engine light I know that can be triggered by your catalytic converter problem/ missing. Considering the age of your vehicle it could also be your timing belt. You should have them replaced every 90,000 miles at least. Check your owner's manual. If your timing belt is worn it could be slipping which might explain your cutting out problem.3. Says: when cruising, it might not be getting enough fuel, run to walmart or any autoparts store and pick up a can of sea foam. pour it in your tank when you fill up. itll clean out your engine and everywhere else the fuel goes. you can also pour some in the intake, all the directions are on the can. this stuff works great, and that might be all your truck needs.4. Says: This is a classic case of fuel filter madness. These symptoms are what happens from a clogged filter. Don't feel too bad if this is it. You're not the first one (or last) to get burned by replacing the wrong parts. You may have needed those things anyway.5. Says: the first 2 answers are very good
if you didn't update your new fuel filter that was my first attack
but I have found Zmax has a fuel additive now, it's a little pricey but well worth the money
I've also been using marvel mystery oil for many many years now and even ran a Buick for over 4000 miles on 4Q straight marvel mystery oil and 1Q of 20-50
after driving cross country and all over the place with that I did an oil change and chunks came out of old oil gunk and I refilled it with only 1Q marvel and 4Q 10-30
the car ran until I sold it at 250,000 miles, **** still ran like a top Tag: My truck keeps cutting out but not really any loss of power; what's wrong?
