Audis and synthetic oil question?
(2011-01-08 15:10:20) 1. Says: I KNOW...I shoulda just taken the car myself but im working today and had someone else do it for me. Went to get my oil changed in my 2003 A4 audi.Its always had synthetic oil in it....
They did not use synthetic oil today...I only knew that because my boyfriend called and told me how much it was...and the price was so low I KNEW something was wrong because im so used to paying quite a bit extra for the synthetic.
So I called the company and told them that they did not use the correct oil. At first he kind of argued with me by saying it was not a requirement. I said YES it is, when you open the hood it says right on it what kind of oil it needs.
Is this going to hurt my car? He told me to bring it back in tomorrow and he will take care of it? Im so aggrevated!2. Says: Who ever answers that it is okay is an idiot and does not know the Audi 1.8T motor. Yes you are correct it is absolutely critical. Originally Audi did not REQUIRE full synthetic however these motors began developing oil sludge in the pan that blocked the main engine bearings from being lubricated so they now DO require 100% synthetic oil on all of the 1.8T motors. It should be safe to drive back to them to get it changed however I would limit your driving as much as possible. Just to be safe, I would also have your oil changed again in about 1,000 miles to rid your motor of any residual conventional oil. I promise you this information is 100% accurate... call your local Audi dealer and they should confirm exactly what I have told you3. Says: Stuff happens. It will not hurt anything in the little time it takes to replace. Make that time as short as possible and change it again soon. I have owned three.including a big A6 Turbo. Best cars I ever drove - dumbest thing I ever did. The only people who ever touch your Audi are (1) certified Audi mechanics and, in an emergency, very good independent mechanics who know they need to get out the manuals and go slow.
