Eclipse GSX, Eclipse GT, Lexus sc400, or Mustang GT?

1. soccerplayer#7 Says: im looking for a car and based on my research, i've cut my choices down to these 4 cars.
98 eclipse gsx
2000 eclipse gt
98 lexus sc400
02 mustang gt

at first i wanted a eclipse gsx cause it has AWD, turbo, and a ton of aftermarket mods are available. the only downside to it is all the eclipse gsx i found are run downed, its hard to find a gsx with low miles on it.

which brought the 2000 eclipse gt in the picture. i know that the eclipse gt is a lot slower than the eclipse gsx but it looks nice and is reliable. plus they are a lot easier to find than a gsx. they have a decent aftermarket mod but none compared to the gsx and its a bit more expensive to mod a eclipse gt.

then the mustang gt came along...
they have 260 hp stock and can be modify very easily with its aftermarket mods, i know the cobra is faster than the mustang gt (and all the cars i listed) but all the cobras where i live are run downed or expensive. only things i dont like about the mustang gt is the long body it has and the gas mileage.

the lexus sc400 is a recent one i found out and it definitely caught my eye
290 hp stock, stylish yet fast, and reliable. i found out that the sc400 has few aftermarket mods available compared to the sc300. but i like the sc400 and it looks to be a good car and i haven't seen a lot of those around here

which brings my conclusion....which car should i pick???
i want a car thats looks stylish (which all the cars i've chosen are) and a car that can be respectable when racing. the racing part wont be everyday it'll be occasionally if not rarely but i still want a car that can haul *** when racing my friends or people around here. i dont want to spend thousands of dollars on aftermarket mods to make my car a bit faster if the mods end up being worth more than the car.
cause if thats the case, i'd rather save my money on a Supra Twin Turbo and smoke everyone lol (but i'd doubt i'll be able to afford one)
i live in a pretty small town but there's plenty of racing teens like me around
the cars that are known here is:
06 mazda 6
98-02 honda civic
and 05 nissan 350z

i wanna be able to beat at least the mazda 6 and honda civic with the cars i've chosen
so which car should i go with????

plus i DONT want a RICER car
my definition of a RICER car is a car that looks fast (body kits, big spoiler, taillights, neon lights) but is slow as hell
2. Murcie_LP640 Says: - Don't go for an AWD Eclipse. It's not a Mitsubishi system it's a Chrysler system and it's unreliable, full stop, as is the gearbox on most Eclipses.

- The SC400 is good but the SC300 with the 1JZ-GTE is more powerful and has more aftermarket support. The 1UZ-FE V8 is still a decent engine though.

- The Mustang is quite a simple car, still runs a live rear axle even in today's GTs, and as such it doesn't really handle all that brilliantly. Decent power though.

Any of those would be able to beat the 6 and Civic, and with a few mods the Soarer will make mince of a 350Z.

Just a forewarning though: apart from maybe a pod filter and some other small bits, mods are going to be expensive no matter which car you pick.
3. justaviewer Says: mustang gt. power and beautifull v8 sound. looks like you've done your research so i wont go much into that, just giving personal preference.
4. dr_curtiz Says: murcie doesn't know what he's talking about
5. clark Says: Go for the Mustang, it will never be taken for a 'ricer'........
6. James W Says: all are good choices, (aside the fuckstang j/k j/k ford peeps dont get ur panties in a bunch lol) Out the Eclipse GT, if you want an eclipse get a DSM You have alot of choices when it comes to a DSM, but if you want the most power for your money get a 1st gen AWD, either eclipse talon or laser. The 4g63 block is the most feared 4 cyl in the world, look up Brent Rau on youtube, his 2nd gen is running 6 second 1/4 miles (however your talking insane modifications to run those times) The lexus your talking about i belive is the one with the infamous 2Jz 3.0 Inline 6 twin turbo, the same engine used in late gen Toyota Supras, one of the best engines for tuning and modificatitons, it is the quintessential engine for a tuner (aside the 4g63)...the mustang, ugh yes its got a V-8 and decent power, however if you want a 'stang stick with a 5.0 (look into foxbody 'stangs), the 4.6 block is rather nutless, my 91 laser (w light mods running 10 psi on a 20G godspeed turbo) will walk a 4.6 all day. All of these cars can be modified to the point where they will suck your balls into your stomic when u hit the gas, but for overall power, MPG and looks i would go with a DSM. One of my buddies who got me on the DSM scene has a 1st gen gsx thats insane, dynoed at just over 800 hp and he spent right around 10 grand to do so, but as long as he stays out of boost, he still gets 25+ mpg highway, which still blows my mind lol.
*EDIT: @ maurice- Of coure the stang has a live rear axel, so does EVERY RWD CAR EVER BUILT! you dont know what your talking about either, a DSM is a mitsu product, yes DSM was a conglomoration of chrystlar and mitsu, but every thing used in the vehicle is from mitsubishi the entire car everything has a friggin Dimond Star on it (aside 2nd gens that have th 420a in them which are the lowest end DSMs, the 420a is the same engine used in most dodge neons) and btw as far as toyota prducts go, the 2JZ is a much better engine, the 1JZ cant hold boost for **** compared to the 4G63 or the 2JZ...
