1. stephen Says: Hi, I'm looking to buy a 2002 PT Cruiser. Is this a good car in terms of a first car?
2. pickmefirstplz Says: have the car checked out by a mechanic before you buy
3. Spike Says: i bought my 2002 PT cruiser brand new, in 2002.

I have had these repairs required

1. Front end bushings and control arms - 1200 dollars
2. Headlight and signal malfunction - 280 dollars.
3. Rear stabilizer bar thing broke - 180 dollars
4. Rear wiper motor quit working - never fixed it, WAY too expensive for a non-essential item
5. Replaced bad serpentine belt - went bad under warranty - would have cost 200 dollars

The maintenance was pretty cheap - tires are reasonable, the brakes seem to last forever. I have a manual transmission and have had zero problem with the clutch. I replaced the rear shocks but that's part of maintance as well.
4. The Eagle Keeper Says: It can be a good car if it was taken care of. This applies to all cars. But as a first car, I think at best it will be adequate.
5. DL M Says: I think The PT has a poor service record.
