How much would my car sell for?

1. plantnerd Says: I have a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLS with the 1.9 L TDI diesel engine. It has almost 230k miles on it, all of which were driven by me. The pistons and glow plugs were rebuilt/replaced about 1 and a half years ago.

I'm contemplating selling this bad boy for a down payment on a new car for my wife. I know that these little diesels are in high demand since the mileage is so great (average 45 MPG). And the demand is especially true for where I live (SF Bay Area) since there is always the option of using biodiesel.

I was wondering what people out in the interwebs thinks a car like this would go for, especially since the engine has basically been rebuilt.

Look it up on KBB & NADA. Their figures are reasonable approximations.

As a private party, you wont get retail.

Its probably worth more to you than it would anyone else.

Same with me & my car. Mine looks like a $700 car, is really a $1200 car but I wouldn't sell it for $1600.
