Is my clutch on my car ok?
(2011-01-11 15:20:45) 1. Says: hi brought a ford fusion the other day and the bite on the clutch is really high does this mean my clutch could be going its only done 65000 miles or am i worring for nothing thanks in advance2. Says: My hubby tells me most ford clutches are self adjusting and the bite is high on most of them. Check with your handbook for fault finding answers. When they self adjust you may hear a clunk or spring recoiling noise. I hope this helps.3. Says: milage has no much effect. use is most important(go smoth acceleration). American cars are not famous of the best, smothest clutch pedal ( Dodge trucks)or manual trans, especially small fords. If it is constant, then go Murphy's way. Don't fix it. if you put new one, expect jumpy start for few weeks.
if you insest on manual trans, then you should stick to Japanese cars. not the very small ones.4. Says: Don't take the risk buddy, take it to your local garage and have someone look at it, I hope you don't need a new one, it could be quite costly, but it's 65k and if the previous owner drove like a plank he may have knackered it by now.5. Says: Put the car in first gear and rev the engine and let your foot of the clutch slowly, if you can stall your car then the clutch is fine, if it is worn then the clutch will slip .6. Says: I would think that this is adjustable. Go to any reliable repair shop to have it checked and adjusted. Should be somewhere in the middle.
good luck......7. Says: A high biting point is fine, a low one usually indicates a worn clutch.8. Says: if the bite is really high it is worn and will eventually start slipping9. Says: I dunno...maybe you should check the knob Tag: Is my clutch on my car ok?
