65' mustang conversion question?
(2011-01-12 15:15:06) 1. Says: I was just wondering if converting a mostly original 1965 mustang coupe into a 1965 shelby gt350 would hurt or improve the value of the car.If it matters it has no power steering or power brakes, it's an automatic, and it's that weird looking light blue color.
~King~2. Says: good question, and the reality is that both cars have a place in history, the days of a perfect original car, down to the correct bias ply tires and shocks, are limited. There are companies, that are helping change the tide so to speak, a clone, is going to be worth more money than a stock 65, Its like any used car, you have to find the right buyer. To make a car as an investment is difficult, only because every mile you put on it detracts from the expensive long list of parts, and many hours of time and energy you put into building it. My first question is if you love the mustangs for what they are, and you love to work on them and go fast in them and use them for what they are that's great, I would make it the way I wanted it, and drive it the same way. A clone car is popular, because only rich people can afford to do an original shelby gt 350 Make it your own, if you want top dollar later, put top dollar in it now so it shows up well. REALITY IS THIS, there are lots of new parts available, that you can make the front end, suspension and drive train more modern, something you can jump in and fry the tires no problem, or take a sunday cruise along a beach, that would be the fun of making a shelby for you . Take care of it, and you will find plenty of guys who will buy a clone that is done top quality.
So do your research and do it right. Ford Racing came out with a BOSS 351 LAST YEAR I think it was, it had special heads, was fuel injected, and was rated about 450 hp. I would put this motor in, or a big block, The money say 10 years from now will put a car with the Boss motor, or a big block (and ford has some good ones) have you checked out www.hemmings.com? this is a car lovers magazine that has been around a long time, and has world wide roots in the car lovers world, this is where I would go first, looking for a car, or car parts, or any information. You can look at last months want ads for free, or pay a small fee for the online magazine for current ads, or you can pay a few more bucks for a hard copy to be mailed to you. I check her often trying to get an idea of what something is worth if someone asks a question regarding a old car in yahoo answers. You can also get pricing information in all 50 states through auto trader classics. This is an online magazine and hopefully you can find enough information to answer your question better in your mind. And I also cross reference pricing information in www.nada.com this is a free price guide with a consumer section, and click on classics, and see what you find out about mustangs. hope this helps, best of luck, have fun.3. Says: It will look pretty funny, since Shelby never made any '65 coupes..forget the stripes, they look funny on a coupe.. Tag: 65' mustang conversion question?
