In a car what is the indication to change the spark plugs.what is the sign to notice.?
(2011-01-22 15:20:26) 1. Says: does it depend on the miles you have driven2. Says: usually the amount of time or miles since the last change, but you are not telling me the year make or model of your car. I need to know this. I need to know if you have electronic ignition or the old points system. Anyway, it all depends on the condition of the engine, plugs will foul if the engine runs rich or burns oil. This can or will cause hard starts, hesitation, stumbling, backfiring and a bad miss in the engine. the miss can be anything from poor idle to a shaking engine. This will cause a chugging like effect when you accelerate. Now if you have none of these symptoms, then most new car manufacturers use a platinum spark plug and the average lifespan is the 100k miles depending on how and where you drive, highway, city or a mix of both. the 100k limit is built into a combo of highway and city. If you do more city stop and go, then the lifespan is slightly less than 100k and all highway is more than 100k miles.good luck......3. Says: A good rule I follow by is giving any and every vehicle a tune-up every 4 to 5 years. That usually includes spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and the rotor under the cap. Think about it. Every year people put thousands and thousands of miles on their vehicles. Not only that but you are talking about crucial components that are exposed to various temperatures changes thousands of times per year. It's cold outside, it's hot outside, your starts out cold but after running for a while it gets too hot to even touch with a bare hand. All of that affects the performance of those parts. So to stay on the safe side of things do a complete tune-up every 4 to 5 years. You will keep a fair amount of your gas mileage and lessen the chance of something severe breaking down on you. Gotta love preventative maintenance. Hope this helps.4. Says: When you get in your car in the morning, turning the key and the engine is not really starting > trying to start but not & you're pumping the gas pedel for all it's worth and finally after a few minutes of this, the car starts. That's the first indication that it's time for a 'tune-up', which includes changing the spark plugs.5. Says: The problem with worn plugs is that the change is so gradual, you don't really notice it. but, general symptoms of worn plugs are: harder/longer starting times, rough/uneven running engine, excessive fuel consumption, engine sluggishness.
If you're in doubt, just change the plugs. Spark plugs are generally cheap and easy to change (except for the rear bank on transversely mounted V6 or V8 engines).6. Says: As long as it is running fine base this decision on mileage. If it's running poorly or gas milage decreases plugs maybe a good place to start.7. Says: In a hard pull you will notice a definite individual skip as the plug occasionally does not fire. Tag: In a car what is the indication to change the spark plugs.what is the sign to notice.?
