I put a wrong screw in, can I get it out?

(2011-02-07 15:21:08)
1. Jordan Says: I accidentally screwed the wrong screw in when I was putting a screw in my guitar when I was attaching the bridge and the screw wasn't threaded right and now I can't get it out. Is there a way to get it out???
2. Richy Says: There are a few ways to remove the screw, but if you have damaged the thread, then to use a very bad pun - you are screwed, and will need to re-tap the thread on your guitar - which providing you have one of the other screws you will be able to find the specifications of. If it is a cheap guitar you may want to use a self-tapping screw. To remove the screw that you have presumably 'forced' in you may try to use - very carefully- pliers. A professional would use a screw removing device which drills into the screw itself in the 'wrong' direction and then can extract it in the 'right' direction. it is too late at night to be doing this. I know you love your guitar, but sleep on it. it will be easier in the morning. Don't risk effing it up any more tonight and if you don't know what you are doing then i am sure you know of a friend who can help you with this in the morning. Good luck - coming from somebody who has effed up many things at this time in the morning and can speak from experience!
