1. LS1 Says: cliffs:
Helped nephew build a 350 into a 350hp 355
I bought a 88 RX7 for him to work on and learn
Using a granny speed swap we swapped the 350 into the RX7
His mom/my ex sister-in-law is freaking out that i more or less gave it to him
The vehicle is mine, covered under my insurance, when he drives it he is covered by my insurance

whats your thoughts? He hasn't had a speeding ticket yet. He goes to college. She won't let him drive it home so he makes the extra 20 minute drive to my place to leave the car she bought him and picks up his RX7 to take it to college. Her excuses are "it waste gas" "it isn't safe" and the biggest one "it has way to much power" I don't know about y'all but the only reason i took shop in highschool was to make my truck faster and i did (i don't know how much power it had but it ran in the 13s 1/4 mile) this was several years ago
2. Tony Says: If he's responsible then no it's not too much...but he IS related to you so I don't know, he probably drives it like he stole it lmao(kidding)

I don't think it's too much power, he has 3yrs driving experience right? As long as he respects the car a 20yr old should be able to handle a 13 second car.
3. Aaron Says: no, i dont believe so i matters how long of experience he has, i know a guy who has a 454 ci big block engine in his camaro and got it when he was 19, he has known how to drive since 13, and you should tell him the risks of driving unsafely helps alot
4. Fake messiah Says: 350hp doesn't sound that much for a 20 year old to be honest. He sounds like a sensible driver and it doesn't sound dangorous to me. It's unlikely he's even going to go that fast anyway. You know what women are like though. They think everythings too "dangerous"
5. Larry E Says: It's really not about the power it has, His mother doesn't want him driving it and bought him a car so you should respect her wishes and not take it upon your self to decide what's best for him. If he would ever get hurt she will never forgive you.
I had an 88 ford with a cleavland drag racing engine in it,over 400hp. and my daughter drove it to school, well after she grew up and left home I found out she raced everything in sight. If she would have been hurt or hurt someone else I would have never forgave myself. Just remember kids are kids. They will tell you what you want to hear.
6. Drifter Says: No that is NOT too much power, when I was 16 I drove around my dad's car that he got at an auction as a used police car, and upgraded it back to the interceptor parts and it had around 300-350 horses, and I pushed it farther than that, to like 450-500 hp.
500-800 hp might be "too much," but that's just my opinion.
I think too much is determined by the person, what can they handle without getting out of control.
I've driven around souped up 800 hp cars and it may be "unnecessary" as a street car, but it wasn't too much. For me personally, anything with 1000 or more hp should not be on the street, at least not with me behind the wheel, bc I'd end up either getting a whole lot of tickets or crash. I get too easily tempted with a "need for speed" and am an adrenaline junkie, so I have problems with stuff like that.

I think it should be up to you, if you can ride in the car with him and be completely calm, then it's fine.
That's my opinion.

Actually the guy's 20, he's an adult, he should be able to choose for himself. If he want's to drive the car, and you trust him with your insurance, then I don't see a problem, it's your insurance, so technically that makes it your car, so it's your right to allow him to use it, not his mother's.
