3. Country Boy Says: 1. You can't replace the cylinder-head on any 12 valve engine and replace it with a 16 valve cylinder-head without replacing the camshaft and associated valve train parts.

I wish you had listed the year make and model of the car. Four cylinder motors have either 8 or16 valves. V-6 engines have either 12 or 24 valves. All Toyota engines are arranges this way.

Honda does make a few 12 valve cylinder heads. You still would need a different camshaft and valve train parts to make it work.

The more valves you have the better the engine breathes air coming in and exhaust going out. Generally speaking the more valves a cylinder head has you'll get more torque and horsepower. If you drive normally you will get better fuel economy.
4. Troy Combs Says: yes, replaceing the head can give you better gas mileage and more horsepower . it may be a situation where the lifters or valves and springs have become worn or weak. they are, after all non-adjustable. its up to you when deciding to use an engine restorer but these fluids and chemichals rarely, if ever work .
5. mdk68gto, ase certified m tech Says: the more valves, the easier it is for the engine to breathe.
6. Cory Says: Sounds like a Ford Focus. But it should fit.
