On a FWD, Auto, Non-ABS car are the front tires supposed to spin when...?

1. Nonpartisan Says: I have a 95 Ford Escort.
Front Wheel Drive
Automatic
Non-ABS

I jack my car up one wheel at a time.

I see that many people can freely spin their tires 360 degrees. Mine will NOT move more than maybe 2 inches before it stops.

I took the tire off to look at the hub to see if their was any play....again it will not turn....nor is their any play what to ever.

I have my car in park, which I'm pretty sure is the problem.

So if I try doing it again.

Jack up car.
Put the E-brake on.
and shift into neutral.
Should my front tires spin 360 degrees or no???
2. bradleyfourfalls@sbcglobal.net Says: yes
3. Hank Scorpio Says: Tires won't spin in neutral or park. They need to be in gear (even reverse) for them to spin. How bout some common sense dude?
4. itsjustme Says: If you take the car out of park the tires will spin 360 degrees.
5. pedro7of9 Says: what are you doing? tring o prove..figger out? what differnce does it make/ if its in park the wheels dont spin..basic auto 101
