Can I make diesel car run on olive oil?

1. martinkeith20 Says: What would I need as in equipment? For olive’s to make diesel.
I have lived in Spain for around 11 year’s now, with around 30 olive trees.
All of which produce olives every year. But as I found out it is an absolute night mare to have the correct papers to take the olives to be pressed for cash. Also to be honest for the money you do get for the amount of hours picking them I feel it’s a waist of time, when the super markets sell the oil for an absolute fortune. Is there a method of processing the olives at home so I can run a small family car on the oil, instead of letting the olives drop on the floor and then getting crushed into the ground?
2. Timothy L Says: Apparently Olive oil is quite a good basis for bio diesel, but I think you will have to dig around on the net - its not the car that has to be changed but the oil, with some simplechemical processing. Oh yes - some car makers will not stand by a guarantee if the car is used on 100% biodiesel. How much oil do 30 trees give anyway ?
3. pbleek Says: Olive oil is technically a fruit juice, it simply does not have the energy density of other oils, it is also at least 4 times more expensive per liter than diesel.
4. chatery Says: USED vegetable oil works, but olive oil wont . although, As you say, olive oil is not dissimilar. Ask a mechanic,
5. SlaveOfAllah Says: LOL NO. THAT WONT WORK
6. mobile mike Says: sounds like a lot of labor for little return to me. i don't know how much fuel is in spain, but olive oil is $6.00 dollars a pint here in the us. i do know that every diesel engine that i've ever seen run on vegetable oil was started, and warmed up on diesel from a small tank, and then switched over to the main tank with the oil. maybe you can find a small press. i remember not long ago here, a man was doing something similar, filtering and storing vegetable for his v/w diesel. the government said that he was operating a "refinery", wanted $50,000 refinery tax. they never got it, but he did have to pay highway tax on each gallon of oil. hope this helps, and by the way, we're not ALL @ss holes over here!
