What would cause the engine to bog down and intermittent white smoke from a tail pipe?
(2011-02-21 15:20:50) 1. Says: signs of inefficient combustion. Many many possible causes. With an older car I would suspect failed gasket or rings (imperfect seal allowing other motor fluids into the combustion feed), with a newer car I would suspect some sort of failed module that controls the air-fuel mix.But I am not a mechanic and do not know this stuff for certain. I would go TO a mechanic if this happened to me.2. Says: BEFORE having any repairs made have the engine tested with a block chemical tester. This will diagnose your problem and put you on the right track for the correct repair. Never replace anything without first searching to find the exact problem. Many problems will sometimes give similar indications. Good luck.3. Says: White smoke from the exhaust is a sign of coolant entering the combustion chamber. Most likely cause is a blown head gasket.
