False Advertising on a car price sticker?
(2011-02-22 15:30:18) 1. Says: I went to my local Infiniti dealer and saw a g35x sedan priced for $16654. I began to talk to the sales rep about the car and I was interested in buying this car. I look at the sticker on the car and it says $16654. This was a legit price sticker including all the information about the car. The dealership says the car is then $17460 the next day. Doesn't this mean they were false advertising. I was planning on paying $16654, not $17460. The price wasn't raised due to any sales or fees they just raised the price. Shouldn't I make them let me buy the car for its original price. This isn't fair.2. Says: You have a few options. Go back and talk to a sales rep at the dealership and 'remind' that person what the sticker price was the first time you went in and told them you were interested in buying the car. Get a very specific reason why they up'd the price the very next day. (Take notes). Tell the rep what you're prepared to pay for the car, (you might even want to offer a lower amount from the original sticker price).Under no circumstances should you buy that car at the higher sticker price. Talk to the highest manger at the dealership and find out WHY the price was changed in one day! (Take names and notes). If, after you get all of your questions answered, and you're not satisfied with their 'reasons', tell them you believe this was a 'bait and switch' pricing situation and you have every intention of going to the Better Business Bureau. They'll do one of two things. They'll negotiate with you, on YOUR terms, or they'll tell you to leave with an invitation to take your complaint to the BBB. Then, do it!
Check online for the Better Business Bureau in your area and file a complaint. You can also search online for your area Consumer Protection Agency and file a complaint with them. This dealership is doing some shady business. You might want to forgo re-negotiating with them and go straight to these agencies. But, what the heck - it can't hurt to try and dealerships need to sell their inventory, especially now - before they get their new fleets delivered!!
It wouldn't hurt to take someone with you to make sure you have all the info you need to relay to the agencies. Plus, you'll have a witness.
Good luck3. Says: and had you bought it yesterday, they would have had to honor it. Its their car. They can change the price any time they want. Up, or Down. If they want to sticker at $1M, that is there prerogative.
Its not false advertising. Its not bait and switch. It is a price change. Have you ever seen an item on sale at a store? When the sale ends. the price goes up. Yes, I know this was not a 'sale', but the sam principle applies. The price is no longer what it was before.
Now, that said, I be if you said "I will sign today at $16,654" They will have you in the finance office so fast your head might just pop off.4. Says: Sounds like false advertising.
That's why you get with Datsun dealers.
They all act like crooks.
It's that way with all the Japanese car dealers.
Better stay with American.
Have you seen the Cadillac CTS?
It's what the Datsun G35 wishes it could be.5. Says: If the sticker still says the price you saw then they must sell it to you at the marked price before tax tag and title ofcoarse Tag: False Advertising on a car price sticker?
