Why did Jeep stop making the Commander?

1. Hillboy Says: The Commander was a 7 seat vehicle; now Jeep cannot offer that class....
2. scrubbag Says: It was probably something that the public didn't take to, to well. and sales wasn't up so they ditched it.
Most people want a Jeep for off roading, so they choose a Wrangler. The Commander was a nice vehicle, but it was expensive and although it was off road worthy, most people who bought them didn't take them off road. It was too nice for that.

So sales slumped and the car went bye bye

It was kind of caught in the middle between high priced off road vehicles, like the British Land Rover and Mercedes Suv at the top and lower priced suvs at the bottom.

So, if someone could afford a Land Rover, that is what they bought. If they couldn't afford the Land Rover, they went for the lower priced Suvs. So that middle class Commander was too much for some and not enough for others.

In size, it replaced the one time great AMC Wagoneer, which lasted over twenty years. But when Chrysler took over AMC, the Wagoneers and J series pickups went out the door.
3. Mike Johnson Says: The same reason all the Big 3 do. Soon as you get used to a vehicle, then they stop making it or totally screw it over with a "redesigned" piece of crap. Why did Pontiac stop the GTO and G8? Why did they even discontinue the whole Pontiac brand? I think the only thing to a 7 seater Chrysler has now is going to be the Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen (if they haven't stopped them too).
4. Don Says: It's all about money. It's always about money. The can't build and sell enough Commanders at a profitable price, so they stop building them.
