Polaris Trailboss carb trouble?

(2011-02-24 15:20:50)
1. Alex Says: I rebuilt the carb on my 87 polaris trailboss 250 for the 7th time. finally I got somewhere. It will run fine at times, but then it will suddenly bog and the idle will drop dramatically, and fuel will starts spraying out where the air box is suppose to connect. it will suddenly come out of it as well and run fine. could it be that the float bowls are getting stuck? or the float needle not seating right? any ideas at all would be helpful. thanks.
2. Country Boy Says: I would field-strip the Mikuni carburetor and be prepared to buy a float and needle and seat. If it's a brass float it could be set too high. Another thing to check is the pin that secures the float. See if the float moves side to side in the float bowl. The pin hole on the float might be sloppy or it may be too tight. Both of which will screw up your floar level.
