Would a Jeep Grandwagoneer make a good SUV?
(2011-02-25 15:15:09) 1. Says: I really like the look of the 1987-1991 Jeep Grandwagoneer look. But I'm am a teenager and thinking of getting one. Are they reliable? Would it be a great starter car? What are the pros and cons? And another question... If I got one I want to restore it can you restore the woodgrain?2. Says: Don't know about the 87 on Wagoneers, I have driven a few pre 80 Wagoneers, and they are great.I am biased on the older ones, I like the Quadra trac (original not the new ones) full time. I took my old wagon and my J 20 Jeep truck paces where a lot of 4 x 4s would get stuck.
The newer transfer cases, I don't like. but that is my opinon.
But there are some web sites that fix up old wagoneers for off roading, lifting them, bigger tires, and so on, and you can check them out. Google full size jeeps.
This web site is for newer, 80's wagoneers. You can buy one already fixed up, but it costs..$$$$ And they are not for heavy off road, just to look good. Still 4 wheel drive and good, but too nice to take off road.
