What vehicles have at least 25 mpg and would be able to tow this travel trailer?
(2011-02-26 15:16:28) 1. Says: I'm interested in getting this travel trailer: http://wyoming.craigslist.org/rvs/2218063680.htmland a used vehicle to get around in, and occasionally tow it with, that gets good mpg (25+ mpg when not hooked to trailer).
Oh and I live in Wyoming, lots of snow, so 4wheel drive certainly preferred.
Thanks~2. Says: 25+ and 4x4 with some towing capacity is going to be difficult. Many of the mid size cars and suv's can tow 2000 pounds and without the trailer you may get 25 out of them. I would guess that that trailer weighs at least 1000 empty so a car with 2000 capacity should be alright because you dont have a lot of room for a lot of cargo in that trailer and its not like you are going to have the whole family and their gear stuffed in the car at the same time. A car is going to have a better chance for the MPG just because the lower sleeker design, once you get to the more truck or truck like SUV's you are going to start to struggle to get 20mpg especially 4x. For a bigger car something like the Chrysler LX cars may be worth looking at. THey came out in 05 and were the 300C, Magnum, Charger. 09 the dumped the Magnum and brought in the Challenger. They were all available in AWD and had a 2000lb tow capacity. I think some of the Subarus had a 2000 capacity and were AWD.
That trailer is so small you may be better off with a station wagon like car or even a mini van. Most of those have 6' of space in the back that would work for sleeping.3. Says: You should a diesel powered truck, but a 4-wheel drive Ford F-150 might work.
The trailer is not a Teardrop style. Still worth checking out if you have not already got it. Tag: What vehicles have at least 25 mpg and would be able to tow this travel trailer?
