Tune Up??Crown Victoria?

Tony Says: I have a 99' Crown Victoria and I haven't had a tune up yet and was wondering if I could tune it up myself. . .What should I get from Auto Zone to hook everything up and if you could, could you show me a video of what to do and how to do it ill be lost. . .2. The Leaky Gasket Says: it's easy. couple of things to NOT do if this is your first shot at it.

clean, if needed, around the spark plug base b4 removal. this will insure no crap will fall ino the chamber or plug threads. you do NOT wanna cross thread plugs! change one plug at a time. that's means pull a wire, change a plug, re-install wire, go to the next one.

do not adjust timing. if the engine is in good condition, timing only changes as tune up parts wear. once the parts are replaced, timing goes back.

likely on your crown vic, timing is non adjustable anyway.

i reviewed it. again,
i strongly advise not pulling all plug wires at once. it's really not needed and asks for trouble.
you may not have a distributor. in that instance, just R&R the plugs. don't worry about the other end of the plug wire and where it goes.

If you haven't change the coolant, you could change that, of course oil change and filter.

There is really nothing on the engine that gets tuned, the computer does that.5. Jason P Says: There shouldn't be any reason why you cant do it yourself... start with the common things like oils, (tranny, engine, rear end), change spark plugs. do brake pads and rotors if they are going bad.
