i want significantly better acceleration without killing my gas mileage2. Says: thats a good gear to have.... but 411's is faster and still drivable...3. Says: What transmission is in it? Stock I assume?
If so, gears are your only "cheap" and quick option to noticeably increase acceleration, since that is a TBI truck, again if stock.
Of course, being 4WD, you'll need two sets of gears.
Really need to find out for sure what you have. I *believe* by then 3.73 was standard if automatic trans, but make sure...RPO tag is in the glove box, RPO for gears starts with "G". "G80" is the factory locking rear axle, the other code will be the gear ratio, easily deciphered online.
Outside of that, headers are about the only easy modification, but it's not going to noticeably speed up a 5000lb plus truck, believe me.4. Says: 3 Tag: What gear ratio should i switch to?
