Can a car dealer earn more money on car sales by selling to friends of friends?

1. Chris C Says: I remember when working abroad a colleague was asking if anyone was planning on buying a car as a friend had a dealership and would give a discount if bought through him. When I asked for a left hand drive car and was refused I wondered if what this guy was offering was illegal - as there should be no problem ordering a left hand drive car in Italy. What I guess was happening was he was buying it himself at employee discount and selling it on to friends/acquaitances - if he bought a left hand drive car then that would raise suspicions on what he was really trying to do. What do you think?

2. SuziQu Says: If you mean that the employee was buying cars for himself and then reselling the car to other people.....that is called curbing and he won't be working there too long.
If you mean the employee was just trying to get leads from friends to get others into the dealership....that is a common practice of salesmen and there isn't much of a discount.
