What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of having a Corrado G60 G lader supercharger?
(2010-05-28 11:26:06) 1. Says: I have a 1992 vw GTI with a corrado G60 engine swap, i get around 9 psi of boost everyday and the car runs awesome. I just wonder if G60's have any sort of common problems to watch out for or if is durable. People with superchargers please help me. So is there very many advantages to the scroll charger design? Just wondering,2. Says: Advantages: The motor sitting beneath the supercharger is very reliable. Supercharging is a great way to extract more power from a motor without costing a huge hit in fuel economy. The car responds very well to modification as well.Disadvantage: The supercharger itself is maintenance item on these cars, and needs to be regularly rebuilt every 20-30k miles. A lot of nuisance compared to a turbocharger that lasts from 100k miles to the life of the car. This is still an overall more reliable setup than the VR6 that was offered in later Corrados.
