I have a 97 Ford Taurus that the drivers side power window quit working on?

1. Hambone Says: It is stuck in the closed position and I've been noticing lately that it hits the top or the closed position very hard. I took the trim panel and the dust cover off of it today. I can hear the relay click under the dash when push the window switch. If I push the switch more than once I can feel the motor getting hot and if I try to the switch at night the lights dim. What do you think? Is the window stuck? Is the motor shorted? Thanks in advance for any help!
2. meev182 Says: sounds like you need a motor. test the motor for power and ground. if you have both, replace.
3. matt89 Says: Its possible the window could be off track, that would account for the slamming up top as well as the motor getting hot because it could be in a bind. as for the relay clicking, that probably means the motor is just getting bad. i believe those cars use the cable style regulators so i would just order a whole new assembly.
