(2011-03-29 14:20:20)
1. purplepirate Says: what are they?

and also, if possible, what is their construction and what are their advantages/disadvantages?
2. Google It! Says: All-weather or "all-season" tires are basically a compromise between handling well on dry roads, wet roads, and usually snowy or icy roads.

The rubber is different to handle colder temps better, and usually have a "grainy" tread pattern to grip in rain and ice.

There are no real disadvantages except it won't handle as well as a performance tire in the dry, and they may be a little more noisy than "regular" commuter tires.
3. jim s Says: They are a trade off in tread patterns. The do not do anything well, but are better in the winter than a summer tire or are better in the summer than a snow tire.
