HID vs Halogen Bulbs - Need Advice?
(2011-03-29 14:20:43) 1. Says: Ok - I had HID bulbs in my last car and they were great. There is no getting around the fact that they are amazing. However, the kit broke after about 3 years and since then I have sold my car.
Now I have a brand new car and the stock bulbs SUCK! I am not sure I want to go through the pain of ordering a new HID kit so I have looked into different halogen bulbs. I want to know REAL opinions of those of you who might have or have seen different halogens like:
Sylvania Silverstar - I heard they are ok - a lot of people claim there is a lot of hype to these - not much of a difference.
PIAA - Much more expensive - heard they burn out quicker and some say they are decent and some say they are overrated.
HIR Philips - Same story... some say they are overrated but the price is right.
Help me settle this ONCE AND FOR ALL! Is it worth it getting some Halogen bulbs or should I go through the pain of HID's again. If you think halogens are a decent alternative - please tell me why you think so and which ones!
Thank you all!2. Says: if the car doesnt have HID lights from the factory then expect to pay big $ to have them installed. All the halogens are just ok in my experience. the brighter ones will not last as long and are only marginally better then the standard ones. HID will be the best and brightest.3. Says: no matter what brand of halogen bulb you buy is just a name. halogen bulbs are the same and the only thing that changes is the color outside. if you by the expensive ones like PIAA it give you a slightly blue tint but is not bright.
go with HID kits. they are inexpensive
