What makes a car bounce?

Says: i drive a 1994 bmw 325i, i know i need new shocks, when i hit a bump on the passengers side rear my car bounces there and skips like im skipping rocks. but when i do that on the drivers side nothing happens i just bump and move on. i can decide if i need new wheel bearing or new rims, someone said my rim is bent on the passenger side.2. Says: Sounds like the shock/ strut is worn or damaged, replace them in pairs, so no matter if the one side is fine, you should still replace it in pairs anyway and possibly an alignment is called for too.good luck......3.
