Is a 78 Chevy Nova considered a sports car?

2. monte Says: Not when it was new. This was an entry level grocery getter. No performance option like SS in 78. That being said, a modified from stock one could cost you more. It still wouldn't be a sport car by the usual definition, but could be called street machine, low rider, pro touring, pro stock, etc. depending on what mods have been done. If this won't be a daily driver, consider a classic car insurer like Haggerty or Grundy. There will be limits on mileage and storage but prices are amazingly cheap.

3. slipstream Says: it's not that they might consider it a sport,s car [ unless it's a super sport with performance option,s] what it come,s down to is...engine displacement , multiple carburetor,s or performance addition,s , transmission type [ as in 4 speed manual as opposed to 2 speed automatic ] super sport option will be listed on the title, dual or performance exhaust , etc... all they want to know is is it capable of faster than normal chevy nova operation....all they can tell from the paper work is whether it,s a S.S. or not & normally they don't need to see the actual vehicle. so if it,s not a SS...then you have little to worry about...unless you have a bad driving record...that just might make your insurance agent a little suspicious....not many people are out looking for an old, chevy that has no up to date safety feature,s....that in it self might cost you more....best of luck!

The only real sports car made by chevy is the corvette. Sometimes, some people will call a camaro a sports car.

The nova, along with a chevelle and monte carlo is just a sedan/coupe.
