1. mara G Says: it gets horrible gas milage!!!! i know this is prolly silly question to you men, but it has a 6 cylinder can i switch it with a 4? i know nothing about cars! and it was previously owned by an older lady who didnt drive it much and my mechanic said it has alot of rust underneath so i should trade or sell it!!! but it works perfectly, runs nice and smooth.i dont see a point in selling it...what do you guys think. this is my 1st car and only had it a month!! thanks
2. Tuono Cane Says: Well you could switch it out to the 4cylinder engine, but it will cost more than the car is worth way more. If it runs well and there is nothing wrong why trade it unless you just don't like it.

It should get about 20 in town and 28 or so an the highway, just fill it up and then drive a while and fill up again, now divide the miles you drove by the gallons of gas you purchased, and this will be your miles per gallon, do this a few times and get an average it should be about 24mpg, not too bad for a V6.

However there are alot of variables here lead foot syndrome, hills, wind, acheater on, type of gas used, etc... these will all affect mileage.

I would keep it for a while at least it sounds like a decent car, if trouble starts though get rid of it it is not worth the time repairing.
3. Mark Says: Sorry but you have purchased one of the reasons that Chrysler group had to file bankruptcy. The V6 was underpowered and inefficient, the 4 cylinder was not class competitive in power or efficiency and was based on a decade old Mitsubishi design known to blow head gaskets. You'd be best off getting rid of the car now before the repair bills pile on top of the fuel bills. Purchasing a Honda/Nissan/Toyota of a similar or older year will be less expensive in the long run with proper maintenance. Remember that with any used car you must be diligent with changing oil every 3K miles, flushing coolant annually, flushing transmission fluid every 30K miles, etc. Try to purchase a car that leaves you a few hundred extra bucks to take care of maintenance issues and get something else. You'll be happier in the long run.
4. Top Source Says: Post the mileage.

Lot of rust can be a prob.

Take it to a Dodge dealer for diagnosis & service.

Make sure the tires are inflated properly, spare, too.

“Quick lube shops competing for your business cave into pressure for bargain oil changes.

“To cut costs, they might buy single weight oil in bulk or use recycled oil. They use cheaper, less durable oil filters.

“Low-wage, inexperienced technicians sometimes make servicing mistakes when trying to work faster.”
[No diss to good, independent mechanics.]

5. Peter Says: no you can't switch to a 4 cylinder lol. The only dodge worth getting is a dodge charger but in general dodge sucks anyways. Sell it get a honda or toyota with 4 cylinders and low mileage i can guarantee you if you maintain those type of cars really well you not be disappointed
