Rattling coming from truck.?

1. Quagon Says: I have an 84 Dodge D150 with a 360, when sitting at idle there's a rattling sound that comes from under the truck, however the slightest increase in RPMs and it goes away. What would be causing this? Couple other questions.

1.) When I put the truck into reverse and start moving the truck will sometimes make a loud creaking sound, like a submarine under alot of pressure, how to take care of this?

2.) When it gets really cold outside and I turn the ignition all I hear is a click sound, the radio and lights and everything else gets power but nothing happens with the starter. I usually have to turn it a bunch of times really quick before the starter will work. I don't have this problem when the temp is 36F and up.
2. Matt Dodson Says: issue 1. most likely cause is muffler pipe hanger or connecting sections , there is not usually not much room to move under there and the hangers are metal and rubber , but after a heavy load or extended use the pipe hanging freely on hangers may cause a loose connecting joint or rubbing on frame or somewhere,, the sound of the motor ,by the time it gets to the end of muffler with vibration it kinda gets sloshy and makes sound,, kinda like holding a fishing pole , you hold it tight and the very tip still has a vibration in it,, but when you give it gas everything has a tension against it from freely or loose vibration.
issue 2. you may want to check u joints and rear end fluid ,, with the truck in park and off, push it so it kinda rocks back n forth kinda hard, if it makes a clank or sounds like metal binding up
issue 3. thats where they get term on battery's " cold cranking amps" , or you got a weak solenoid on your starter ,
3. SNISH76 Says: The rattling sound could be a loose tail pipe hanger, the creaking sound might be your back brakes releasing and the switch problem may be a worn out ignition switch, metal contracts in cold weather and expands in hot weather remember there is metal contacts in the ignition switch itself.
4. Jeremy Howard Says: yeah srry man but your best bet is to take it to a dodge mechanic. i have never heard of these problem in dodges. but if you hear something turn on in the engine then turn off while the engine is running it could be the u joint.
5. i made it Says: x
