3) what kind of paint should I use and what type of layers and how many layers?2. Says: painting an older car is the same as painting a new car. all you need is primer sealer and paint then clear. basically you do all of your body work then primer it block out the promer with 320 grit. after you got it all smooth repeat that for a smoother look. apply the sealer you have to lay this out perfect and i believe its 2 coats. after that drys you spray your color 3 or 4 really good coats after the flash time specified for that paint. Then you clear it ive put 6 coats of clear on my 79 camaro and wet sanded it. normally i would wet sand with 1500 then move to 2000 then to 2500 wet sand paper then buff it out it will come out like glass.3. Says: first of all your panels (body) should be free from shinny paint, rust, grease, and other contaminants. Then choose you primer, For bare or repaired metal i would use a self ecth primer then a filler primer for any areas of imperfections that were repaired. Then when dried wet sand with at least 600 wet dry sand paper. Now you have to choose you paint, for beginners you might want a single stage enamel, For more experience your could go with urethane base/clear coat and follow manufactures recommendations.
