My drivers side windshield wiper broke? Opened it up to look at it can't fix?

1. albanianbrotha Says: Well I was driving today, and all of the sudden my driver's side windshield wiper stopped moving. Caught me off guard, but i was able to adjust to it nicely.

So I opened up the spot where the rod that transmits motion to both rods is located, and I saw the drivers side had fallen off. So I thought easy, just reattach it and bolt it on or something. There is no bolt. There is just a spot where this rod fits below it, but gravity seems to be able to pull it off. I have no idea how to fix this. I like to repair my car on my own, and I'm getting a new car within a month, but it's raining the rest of the week :(

The car is a 1997 Altima.
2. Peedlepup Says: The rod is attached by a plastic retainer which you can get from your neighborhood Nissan dealers parts department. Easy repair.

Don't waste your time going to Pep Boys, this is a dealer item only.
3. bigrocks65 Says: Not sure on ur car but most cars are a socket that is pressed onto a ball..you can press it back together. But 99 0/0 sure you need to replace the linkage.most cars require the whole wiper transmission assy
4. Joey Duffy Says: you probably need to replace the motor. you mind as well not get it fixed its not worth it. just get that liquid rain x that make the rain just slide off works great.
5. Big Mac Says: New windshield wipers with lifetime warranties can be found for cheap prices on Amazon. It's a very easy fix but the old ones definitely need to be replaced.
6. Alaba Says: Is a bushing kit for it that you may find in the local auto part store , however they are universal and you may have to modify the hole where the bushing goes to attach one that closely matches the original , otherwise you will need to replace the whole arm.
7. Tuono Cane Says: I am not sure what that assembly is called but you can go to a parts store show the associate what you need and they can either get you a new one or order something for you.

however all you might need is just a new E-Clip to hold the linkage back together. Does the end of the pin that the rod arm goes on have a grove in it? if it does your old E-clip fell off letting the arm fall off making the wiper quit moving. Just get a new clip for a few cents and re attach.
