Are Crown Vic bumper guards meant for cops only?

1. Macdady36 Says: Are the Crown Vic bumper guards meant for cops only? Like if I get one for the Crown Vic I'm looking at, can a cop pull me over for impersonating a police officer? I do want it because I do want my car to look like a cop car so people slow down or don't ride my *** all the time in traffic. I might get the spotlight too. But is any of that illegal to have? I'm not going to add a siren or lights to it or any stickers or anything.

Thanks :) best answer gets 5 stars
2. fire4511 Says: Bumper guards, push bumpers, spotlights and the like are not illegal on civilian vehicles. The fact that the police have them does not mean that they are illegal

As long as you do not have flashing lights or stickers that say "police" you can not be charged with impersonation of a police officer.
3. roger Says: any thing you do to make it look like a police car is not a good idea. If push bumpers were legal, everybody would have them. I can count the number of push bumpers on civilian cars I have seen, with no hands. I knew someone who bought an older dodge with a push bumper. The cops pulled him over and ordered him to take it off. (which is what he did) I suggest you may want to get more information, ask the police department. they would know. (no, Im not trying to be funny, how else will you find out?)
4. New Yorker Says: I've Crown Vic seen taxis with the bumper guards in NY (NY State outside of NYC), and the spotlight pointed to the side to use to look for an address at night. Hopefully this'll help a little.
5. Built Ford Tough Says: Nothing illegal about them. I have often seen dealers selling used cop cars with the bumper guards and the spot light still attached. As long as you don't add any police decals or blue & red strobe lights you are ok.
