Replacing an egr valve?? on a 1997 ford f150?

1. Chase's mommy 2010 Says: I had the codes pulled at autozone and they told me to start with the egr valve. Is that something fairly easy to change or is it something that should be done by a mechanic?

2. chpmustang1990 Says: if ur not a tech savvy person, have a mechanic do it. specifically a smog (emissions) repair shop, i work for a smog/repair shop in northern california and i do many of these, one of the most important things is to clean out the passages when servicing EGR systems. also dont trust autozone employees for diagnostic help. no offense to them they do serve their purpose as far as pulling product from shelves goes, but i would trade autozone diagnostic advice for a gummy bear at a pawn shop. also just to give u a heads up, if you live in an enhanced area for emissions testing, a failed EGR system may cause your truck to fail smog

3. Breana Hefner Says: yah really get it done my a mechanic i wouldnt do it by my self so i really advies you to get it done my a michanic i also called a michanic and they said yah bring it in cause it sounds bad
