1. toddles Says: I am looking at buying a 2002 volvo s60 that has 107k miles on it. I am concerned
that repairs will be expensive in the near future. Any help is appreciated.
2. marechal_00 Says: Usually they are very good, reliable cars. Check the status of the engine and gearbox. If used and maintained properly, you should have no problems. Service history is important.
3. quepasameng Says: Repairs for a car like that are EXTREMELY costly.
4. S C Says: Volvo's are generally reliable. low miles, newish. you should be fine. But, search on Vast.com for it, and if you are buying it for cheaper than most of the other cars like it, there may be something wrong
5. cjrossi Says: I recently bought an '02 S60 T5 with 139k mi on it.

The S60 FWD and AWD got good reliability scores and reviews from consumer reports. The "Engine Major" category got the best possible reliability rating (full red circle).

That said - if things DO break, they are hella expensive to fix, especially at a dealer. My local dealer charges $115/hr labor. No thanks. Even the local independent authorized mechanic charges like $85/hr.

How's the timing belt on the Volvo you're looking at? Of the 2 Volvos I test drove, both had their timing belts replaced right around the 115k mi mark.
