Says: Well if the vehicle's ignition key has a chip in it the ignition has to have a chip reader in it and this info is sent to the comp and security system. This info is factory or dealership programmed and it could be that you need the security/ignition system programmed by the dealership.Even if the key doesn't have any chip the ignition still is linked to the factory alarm system and the system would have to be reset.Usually there is such info inside the owners manual or a factory supplied booklet.Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way there might be a ignition wiring harness or ground issue or the new ignition cylinder/ignition switch could be faulty.I'd take the time out and try switching the switches back around and see what happens and try switching the ignition cylinder.3. Says: You may need to reset the security system. Check your owner's manual for instructions. Tag: Changed out ignition cylinder and ignition switch on a 2000 monte carlo and now car wont turn over?
